What to Bring

Clinic Details

All Clinic participants are to meet at the Alpine House for Registration and an optional Breakfast. Additional costs for breakfast will apply.

 

Breakfast: 7:00AM

Registration/Gear Demo: 8:00AM

Participants are expected to bring:

Backcountry Ski or Snowboard Kit:

  • Shovel
  • Probe
  • Transceiver
  • Touring skis/split-board
  • Touring boots
  • Climbing skins
  • Synthetic Base Layer top and bottom
  • Lightweight Fleece or wind shirt
  • Soft shell jacket
  • Soft shell pants
  • Gore-Tex Shell Jacket
  • Gore-Tex Shell Pants
  • Light-weight insulating top that can be worn under shell jacket
  • Mid-weight insulation Jacket with a hood that can fit over all layers
  • Mid-weight gloves- These can be worn for skinning or hiking up hill
  • Heavy weight gloves or Mittens- For cold or stormy weather
  • Winter Hat- Warm hat, wool or synthetic
  • Sun Hat or visor
  • Socks – wool or synthetic
  • Neck Gaiter or “Buff”- something that you can cover your face with in cold temps or high wind
  • Ski Pack- 30 liter pack
  • Sunscreen
  • Lighter
  • Lip balm
  • Sunglasses
  • Ski goggles
  • Water bottles – 2 32oz water bottles – hydration bladders freeze
  • Swiss army knife or multi-tool
  • Lighter
  • Repair kit

 

There will be opportunities to try the newest gear from our partners at the Demo Fair.


If you are in a full day clinic, make sure to pack a full lunch and lots of water and if you are registered for half day clinic, make sure to bring enough snacks to keep the stoke going through out your clinic.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICY:

For cancellations made 30 days or more before the first day of the program, refunds will be given for the amount paid, less a $30.00 administration fee.


For cancellations made between 30 days before the first day of the program, 50% of the course fee will be refunded.


Cancellations made 15 days or less before the first day of the program will not be eligible for refunds.

Clinic Description

For skiers with some backcountry skiing experience interested to know more about terrain, track setting and decision-making. On a classic Teton day ski tour, your guide discusses weather forecast, avalanche forecast, route choices and field observations. Learn how to debrief and gain the most from every mountain experience.

Skill Level

You should have the ability to skin 3000-4000 vertical feet.

You should be skiing blue and double blue terrain at your local ski area.

Clinic Description

Overview of ski mountaineering. Includes use of crampons, ice axe and rappelling with skis on or off. Learn about snow anchors, rope management and belaying.  Transitions can be one of the most time consuming events in the mountains. Learn how to plan ahead, minimize and use transitions to your advantage.

This clinic is in-bounds at Snow King and focus on the rope work needed to begin to access ski mountaineering terrain.
