Educational clinics give the participants the chance to sharpen their alpine skills and share experiences with mountain guides and athletes.
Â
Please pay attention to the clinics length and duration. Some clinics are one day, some are two days with overnight stay and the Bolt & Belays is a three day clinic. Make sure you don't book clinics with overlapping dates!
Born and raised in Vail, Colorado skiing was a close second to walking. Mountains were my playground, the ski school and race programs - my daycare. Starting as a ski racer but my passion was in powder. In high school I traded between race and tele skis, finally committing to a broken binding for the next six years.
He started skiing when he was two years old at Whitewater Ski resort. Growing up riding the steep terrain around Whitewater, he naturally excelled at freeride skiing. At 14, Sam started on the IFSA freeride circuit which eventually led him to travel all over the world and compete in freeride competitions.
Stian grew up like many Norweigns paragons - skiing before he could walk. He mastered every ski discipline, including ski jumping in his adolescence and at age 19 he went wild for extreme skiing in Chamonix, wowing the world with his rebellious and righteous turns. As a pioneer in freeskiing, Stian has left his mark on the sport with radical inputs on equipment, leading to gear which has enhanced user performance.
Hailing from Oppdal, Norway, Stinius grew up ski racing and skateboarding, so it was inevitable that he would end up in freestyle. Known for his bio 1080 mute grabs and other wild tricks, Stinius could have been a real contender, but once he found the spirited flow of freeriding, he never wore his goggles on the inside of his helmet again.

Right Skills for the right clinic:Â All clinics cater to specific skillsets and to a described level of fitness needed. We have clinics suited to levels from beginner to advanced. Please carefully consider the clinics skill level and the required level of physical fitness, as shown in each clinic description. We want to make sure you chose the right clinic, so you can enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Â
Plan realistically: Don’t book clinics that are overlapping in time. If you do this you will not be able to attend all of them. Also consider fatigue over those 3 active days. At the end of the day, make the best of your Academy days in Chamonix.
Â
Advance your mountain skills: For one same clinic, you may find multiple levels. Ensure your skills match the clinic, and follow the progressions in picking clinics. In other words don’t start with Level 3, and then finish your weekend experience with Level 1. Instead, follow the progressions outlined, and advance your skills.
Â
We speak the world: The Arc’teryx Academy attracts alpine enthusiasts from 25+ countries. Most of the clinics will be English and/ or French spoken. Once we’ll know more of about clinics participants origins, we’ll make our best to staff clinics per language – English, French and may be German – so that you get the most understandable alpine expertise from participating guides and athletes in a language you understand.
